It has been suggested that investing in a good quality eyeliner can ensure makeup remains smudge-proof.

Makeup professionals may be interested to hear one writer’s tips on how to ensure smudge-proof eyeliner.

In an article for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Kelly Misa described how it is possible to prevent products from smearing under the eye by investing in a quality liner.  She recommended testing a number of different brands for consistency, glide and resistance before selecting which to purchase.

Ms Misa advised individuals to check “how well the liner draws, whether it distributes an equal proportion as you line it, how it feels against the skin and how long it stays on when you rub it”.

In addition, ladies were encouraged to use a makeup primer as a base and then finish with a layer of powder, which helps to keep products in place for several hours.
Ms Misa’s tips follow recent claims in an article for STV by No7 consultant Sam Grieve that an eyeliner flick is this season’s must-have trend.

Make up school students across the globe will be pondering over how to recreate Katy Perry’s glamorous look when she appeared on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards donning a blue wig.

However, the wig did not detract from her eye makeup, which was show stopping in itself.

The look was created by celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey, who recommended Covergirl Line Exact in Black and, above the black liner he told those in make up training to use a white eyeshadow topped with silver liquid eyeliner.

He explained he has a love of liquid liner because it allows you to change the shape of an eye and he wanted to create a more almond shape for Katy. He concluded: “Women tend to be afraid to use liner in the inner eye but it actually balances out a dramatic eye look.

To finish the eye, I applied multiple coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion in Very Black.” He kept the lips a nude colour and the cheeks a pale pink to prevent a colour clash.
