Oxygen Facial

by admin on March 11, 2010

An oxygen facial is a non surgical treatment where a high-pressure blast of medical grade oxygen feeds active ingredients including vitamins, minerals and collagen into your skin. The result is skin that is clearer, plumper and smoother with a warm “glow” to the skin.

Over time our skin dulls due to factors such as the ageing process, smoking, pollution in the air, etc. Oxygen facials are known to combat these effects by delivering much needed highly concentrated oxygen to the surface of the skin.  By having an oxygen facial the skin receives this high dose which results in better circulation and skin cell regeneration leaving the skin looking younger.  The blast of oxygen also kills surface bacteria, making the skin look clearer.  It can also help combat rosacea, heal bruising and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is also an excellent choice for combating acne due to the anti-bacterial effect. Potential scarring is reduced and the build up of bacteria within the skin is diminished.

During an oxygen facial it will normally begin with ten minutes or so of exfoliation where the top layer of the skin or any dead skin cells is removed to expose the younger, smoother skin beneath. A nozzle is then used to puff chilly oxygen into the skin, blasting in the vitamins and minerals as it goes.  Usually a face mask is applied afterwards to maximize the effects of the treatment.

As it is a non-surgical treatment practically anyone can have an oxygen facial without risk. If you have any pre-existing skin allergies or conditions, it is best practice to make your therapist aware of this before treatment.
